I am Janelle Rose, owner, operator, and head floral designer of Johnston’s Flowers. All arrangements are designed and constructed by me!

Flowers have always been a huge part of my life since I can remember. I am the granddaughter of a flower-loving florist. My childhood revolved around gardening, nurturing, and maintaining different flowers and plants with my Grandma (Lita) Rosa.  At a young age, I learned that plants and flowers require individual love and care to make them last. In addition to these experiences at home, I’ve also traveled abroad with my family to many different places and have seen all different types of flowers and plants.  “Mira que belleza vos”  (look at that beauty) is something Lita Rosa would always say. Her love, admiration, and dedication was and still is something that I’ve always admired. She is the inspiration behind my love and appreciation for the floral industry and she enabled me to share this gift with others.

My childhood experiences and passion for plants and flowers led me to further my education in floral designing and horticulture and led me to my career. I attended a then four-year program at Northern Westchester BOCES, located in Yorktown Heights, NY. This time was spent studying and exceeding in the Horticulture and Floriculture program (I graduated at the top of my class!). As a florist, I have gained knowledge and experience in numerous flower shops throughout the Hudson Valley before settling in as head manager of floral designs at Sunshine & Clover (A huge thank you to Emily Prince for believing, trusting, and pushing me forward!). My next venture began in 2018 as the Original Creator and founder of Upper Village Blooms (I created the name still in use today!!) In addition to floral arrangements, I decorated UVB’S storefront and did all interior and exterior designs all while establishing and maintaining great relationships with all of my loved clientele. Although my time was short there, it led me to several realizations and new beginnings! I am a master florist with over 17 years of experience, I love designing and decorating, I have a love for customer service and making people happy knowing all of this, helped fuel my decision to follow my dreams and expand. Thus, the birth of Unique Charm and new venture Johnston’s Flowers of Dobbs Ferry.
